Secondary Camera in Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

Nokia 5800 comes with a small secondary camera in the front side above the touch media key. Did you know that? But what’s so bad about this additional little unnoticed piece of camera is that it is only used for video calls and can’t be used to take snaps.
I know I took you to some other world for a while but that’s what the reality is.
Here are some details about the secondary camera in the device:
- Resolution: 320 x 240 (in pixels)
- Digital Zoom : 2x
- Image Format: JPG
- Video Resolution: 176 x 144 (in pixels)
- Video Frame Rate: 15 fps (frames per second)
- Video Format: H.263
that’s so bad i can’t use the 2adry cam in Nokia 5800 ………..can it put to use as a self- camera, like the one in N95?
You can’t use that as self-camera like N95. Its only used for video calling. But I heard a firmware upgrade would make the secondary camera available for normal usage.
Yes the new firmware v20 has provided the option to take snaps and video recording with the secondary camera.

i can use my secondary camera but when i take pictures it flips after i take it…how can i stop it from flipping ??
nokia 5800 sucks, nd their is no visulization option in its music player, n73 is better than 5800.

Yes all the new firmwares of the phone supports the use of secondary camera to take snaps. Just download Nokia software updater from their website and upgrade to new firmware.
Probably, you have an older firmware, that is why you cant take snaps whereas your friend has an upgraded firmware.
And make sure you take backup of all your important files and also beware of preloaded songs as they are on high risk of getting corrupted after upgrade. Though you can get keys pluggied in by Nokia care provided you have the songs DCF files as backup.

You will need to upgrade your phone's firmware to get that feature. Old firmwares do not have this feature. Beware of the preloaded songs, they create a headache when moving to a newer firmware.

What are you on about mate! the secondary camera works just as fine for taking snaps as well as recording vids as well, though it offers vga quality
