NIOS (National Open School or National Institute of Open Schooling) has recently announced the date sheet for examinations to be held in the month of April 2009. Below is the date sheet for class XIIth. This also includes the practical examination dates.

General Instructions

The candidates are required to bring their own typewriters for Typewriting and Stenography Examinations as per date-sheet. Typewriting & Stenography Examinations will be conducted in accordance with the Guidelines issued to the Centre Superintendents by the NIOS.

Practical Examinations in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Secretarial Practice, Home Science, Word Processing (English), Computer Science and Painting will be held at the same Examination Centre where candidates will appear for theory examination, unless otherwise notified.

For Practical Examinations the candidates at a centre will be divided in required number of batches according to the capacity of the laboratory and as per rules in consultation with the Examiner(s) concerned by the Superintendent of the Centre.

Practical Examination will be conducted as per the above schedule. Since practical examination are being conducted in small batches of students, candidats are advised to contact the Centre Superintendent well before the dates of practical for knowing specified date as well as batch allotted to them.

The result of examination is likely to be declared in 6 weeks after the last date of the examination. No enquiries about the actual date of declaration of result will be attended to. A copy of the relevant portion of the result will be communicated to the Accredited Institutions immediately after declaration of results and will be available on the Internet also on NIOS website www.nos.org or nios.ac.in.

The Mark-Sheet, Provisional Certificate and Migration-cum-Transfer Certificate will be issued to the successful candidates through their respective AIs. In case of direct registrants/and candidates from cancelled AIs, the documents will be sent to them by post at their residential addresses available with NIOS by the concerned Regional Centre. In the case of candidates whose required subjects are yet to be cleared will receive the mark-sheet only.

The Examination fee paid by the candidates entitle them to appear in practical and theory examination, if otherwise eligible, without having to pay anything extra at the examination centre.

But there are some parameters which will help you in opting for good colleges are
1) Look for Infrastructure.
2) Student to faculty ratio.
3) Recognition of courses (All the courses have to be recognized by an university)
* Some colleges tie up with distance education division of the universities. Therefore would request you to check this one, If you find any college which is offering degrees in such manner then try to avoid them,
4) Brand Value of institution
5) Last but not least, placements provided by institutions.

And secondly, since you said you are a regular student with another board. I would suggest you not to lose hope easily. Just stay calm, and revise things in these days. Don't forget to solve the sample papers published by CBSE. I am pretty confident that you must have definitely studied for your school examinations, even if you haven't done it seriously, chances are that you can still recall things. Just focus on your weaker areas and gear up for the booards….All the best!

hi dude gyan guru hows everythink …well acutely i m having my class 12th board exams from nios board this year n m very tensed about my exams coz i m not prepare 2 gave the exams so kindly please help me out.

Firstly, don't get tensed. you have enough time in hand to score really well. Just sketch out a rough schedule according to your daily routine and see to it that your syllabus is completed well in time(since, exams are almost here, before 2 days is fine).
Don't worry about others completing their syllabus and telling you about their progress. Everyone is different and you just need to focus on your goal, that is to score well. Think it this way, if you complete your syllabus now, things will be fresh in your mind and a quick revision can get you all set for the exams.
And be brave mate! face the exams as if you are Akbar and are going to conquer a new place today!
You have already won half the battle, as you are already concerned about exams and are eager to prepare hard. Just stick to you schedule and rock the exams!
