 A call that never ends…

A time when telecallers use to rule the cell traffic in Indian telecom sector which raged a war between the privacy of the consumer with the, sales target of the caller. The TRAI has started a new service named NDNC (National Do Not Call registry). NDNC, the four lettered term which media all over the country flashed it as victory of end consumers against the telecallers.

Telecallers are normally hired to sell their products from their respective companies to those who are interested in buying or would like to have information about the product. But later calls started to flow all over the country without any reference to their interest and which portrays how secure our details are with the service providers.

After the introduction of NDNC, I was very much excited by the service which can stop all unwanted calls to your cell phone. I might be one of the top 100 lucky callers who would’ve enrolled first and after enrolling, I received a message that your number will be deleted from the list within 45 days and no calls will be made to you regarding any promotions.

Till first 15 days the call flow was normal I was really fed up but still consoled myself by saying 30 days to go.

Somehow, I managed to hold myself till 45 days but the calls didn’t stop and they kept on ringing with a new number everytime. I thought this is the time to act and complain about this. My first call was to a leading service provider in India to stop their automated call regarding their internal promotions the call goes as follows:-

Calling 11111111XXXXXX…

CSE: Good afternoon, this is ABC. How may I help you?

Consumer: Good after noon ABC, I have a problem, I am receiving calls from your internal automated promotions and I am really not interested in those calls.

CSE: Ok, sure I will help you out. (Pause) Sir, I would like to tell you that these calls are beneficial for end consumers like you who can avail the best deal out of them.

Consumer: hmm… just provide the coverage and reduce the call drops I will be more than happy. If not I can go to your local authorised dealer and get the details about the promotions.

CSE: Ok Sir, we have excluded you from our promotions list, anything else may I assist you with.

Consumer: That would be OK for me. Thank you and I really appreciate your prompt service.

(Call disconnected)…..

With the way the CSE attended my call I was really happy and with a sense that the calls will stop coming from now onwards. But the callers won’t stop, they want the lost battle to be provoked again they kept on calling usually cards, loans but now free calling cards this took my anger to the next level. So called my service provider helpline again.

Calling 11111XXXXXX …

CSE: Good morning, this is DEF. How may I help you?

Consumer: Good morning, I have enrolled myself in the NDNC and not to receive any calls from your internal promotions also but I am still getting the calls from third parties trying to sell their products.

CSE: Sure Sir, I will help you out. May I place you on hold for (pause) 2 Minutes.

Consumer: Sure no problem…

CSE: Thanks for holding, Sir it will take 45 days to remove your number from the list…

Consumer: But in my case it is almost 4 Months already.

CSE: Oh, for that we have a dedicated help line for complaints. I request you to call them, they will take your complaint.

Consumer: Sure, I will call them. Thanks for the help.

CSE: Thanks for calling XYZ have a great day.

After that I called their dedicated complaint number which is a toll free number.

CSE: Good morning this is GHI how I may help you.

Consumer: Good morning, I just had a word with your representative in general help line, they told me to call you regarding unwanted calls.

CSE: sure sir, from which company you are receiving calls.

Consumer: They have not stopped it seems they have added one or two more companies to the list.

CSE: Sir, we would like to know the name of the companies in order to write the complaint.

Consumer: Ok one company named XYX was selling their calling card.

CSE: may I know the number from which they are calling

Consumer: can you hold for some time; I have to check that in my call history.

CSE: sure…

Consumer: well please note down the number i.e., 983892XXXXXX

CSE: how many times did your received calls from them

Consumer: twice…

CSE: please provide me with other company details which were selling you the products.

Consumer: They are numerous and sorry I will not be able to give you the details.

CSE: No problem can I place you on hold for a while so that I can generate a complaint number for you.

Consumer: sure…
